After i retired from tattooing in 2019 i can say i never missed the presure of beeing a tattooist. Even that i wasnt work like most artist. I never planed and i had just the best customers ever who was give me the most freedom i could have dreamed of. Still you put the end result and aesthetic over everything. The hope this is the best piece you could have done for this one person. It truely takes the freedom of art and creating away. I can say i dont miss this and i am happy to create on mediums who are not carryed by human minds anymore. But damn i miss the ritualistic asphect of tattooing. The modern ritual i once created. The challenge, the strugle, the up and downs in long sesions. Pushing my clients over there boarder. Help them to archive what they was search with me. Specialy the last years of my active life as Tattoo Artist was all about this. May i never wanted admit how much this truely was part of tattooing for me. I mean as an Artist you put art and aesthetic over everything. At least you believe so.
On my own body-art-transformation journey i collected many tattoos from many artist. I collected many rituals. With ink, needles, pain, suspension hooks and countless ther experiences inspired from tribes, shamans and everything i could puzzle for myself together. This shaped me a lot. It shaped my body and at some point my body was become just my diary to collect memorys, markings and i let the aesthetical part go for myself. My body becomes so much more than tattoos. The more ritualistic the more i loved it. And second, the more sentimental or conected to parts and times in my life the more i feelt the power nd positivity from it. Its not about what others can read. Its about the meaning for yourself. Some words and markings on my body are just reminders to myself. Reminders of LIFE. Reminders of strenght. Markings of change or of things who was matter to myself. A endless story.
One of the biggest inspiration of tattooing i was bring from the monks of asia. The traditional Sak-Yant tattooing. Its not so much about the design and thetechnique. Even its very traditional and tribal with the long metal stick and done by hand in the old ways. Its more the full ritual around the tattoo. The full atmosphere at a temple. The full sesions. praying, waiting, uncomfort, the pilgrimage to it, not knowing what you get and where you get it, lot of things who would a lot of people freak out. And damn i love it.
I collected hundrets of sesions from monks and ayrans on my body. Different tempels, different techniques and all of this was a big influence in how Psyland is set up and whats the idea behind. I just love the Ritual.
The Tattoo Session will be not like a typical tattoo-sesion. It will be in Psyland 25 but most likely outdoors on the ground and away from the busy noises of the tattoo studio. I will have a talk with you to find out whats right now happening and whats your challenges, fears or wishes. Out of this i will create with you together the design and placement on your body. Based on this i will create a unique font and letters only the two of us truely understand the meaning. A symbol to protect you and hopefully guide you tru the next steps in life. It will be a reminder of our meeting. Words and whatever meaning you will add and put within this ritual. I am just your tool and you have to bring your own reasons and intentions with you.
The tattooing will be done with one of the old machines from Little Swastika and will be a mix of Psycrit-Abstract-Kritzel Kratzel and the typical lettering. Most likely in 2 colors. But i dont plan any designs beforehand as for me the design will come natural while meeting you and scan your soul. And i dont mean this in a hippie spiritual way. I just use basic sense and lifetime experience of living a life as absurd and free as i can to share my experience in words with you and may be a help or a punch in the face (whatever you need deepens mainly on the person you are and the intention why you want meet me and get a blessing on the way). But my intentions are to give you something to remind you what YOU WANT. We all have our own ideas of our own path in our minds. Its not easy to follow them. Its not easy to chase dreams. Trust me i know this very well.
Life goes on and sometimes it needs reminders. Reminders for sucess but even more reminders for failture. Because this is how we grow.
My Psycrit is a symbol for this. And it will remind you, protect you and give you strength. And again this is no spiritual hippie bullshit. This is the real deal 😉 grrrrr.

Psycrit is my own invented Language. Something to protect myself from rational decicions based on the influence of normal world and society. Because this is all based on whats good for you int he normal sense of life. Money, carrer and this bullshit. Happyness have no spce in there. Be silly and smile. Have fun in life and chase your dreams. Fuck rational thinking, fuck logical decicions. Psycrit is a reminder of the child in us. The sillyness who makes us smile and so much more. It may looks very spiritual and mystical. But trust me its not.
